Sony Enhances Software for SRG-A40 and SRG-A12 PTZ Cameras
Sony Electronics has recently released Firmware Upgrade V2.0 for its SRG-A40 and SRG-A12 pan-tilt-zoom cameras, significantly enhancing their capabilities. This upgrade, designed for use in corporate, higher education, and house of worship environments, is poised to redefine the standards of automated camera operation.
The upgrade leverages cutting-edge AI analytics, introducing AI-based multi-person framing to automatically manage several subjects in the scene. This feature allows the cameras to detect and frame multiple people simultaneously, improving meeting and event coverage by automatically adjusting the camera view to include all subjects of interest in the frame.
In addition, the firmware now allows users to register faces in advance, and the camera uses AI to recognize and track these registered faces smoothly during video capture. This ensures consistent focus on key participants, making it particularly relevant to large-scale events such as the 2024 Paris Olympics, where nearly 100 Sony cameras will be used.
The improved tracking algorithms in V2.0 enable the camera to automatically detect subjects (including multiple faces), maintain them in focus, and adjust zoom and pan accordingly. This results in superior tracking performance, with precise tracking of the intended subject and reduced errors.
Moreover, the enhanced multi-person framing feature adapts seamlessly to varying group sizes and compositions, providing dynamic multi-person framing. The SRG-A40 and SRG-A12 cameras now select and adjust framing around primary subjects while including surrounding individuals, offering a natural multi-person composition.
The new firmware can register and track up to 40 indexed faces, an increase from earlier versions, and delivers improvements in focus control accuracy, contributing to better overall image quality. The upgrade is free of charge and users can expect improvements in accuracy, focus control, and operational efficiency with Firmware V2.0.
Lastly, the upgrade delivers superior PTZ Auto Framing technology, underscoring Sony's commitment to delivering innovative solutions for professional AV environments. This firmware upgrade is a testament to Sony's dedication to pushing the boundaries of technology and providing the best possible solutions for its customers.
