Spain's Pedralonga Estudios Opens Advanced Virtual Production Facility in Madrid

Spain's Pedralonga Estudios has opened its new virtual production facility, Coruña Immersive Studio (CEI), in Madrid. The launch event saw industry leaders discuss the studio's potential and Galicia's appeal as a filming destination.

CEI's centrepiece is a 750 square meter virtual studio featuring a semi-circular LED wall. This offers 4K resolution and 1.9 pixel pitch definition, enabling hyper-realistic environment recreation. The studio is equipped with state-of-the-art immersive technology, attracting national and international media attention.

The facility's development cost around 9.0 million euros, backed by the Spanish government's Next Generation EU Funds and others. The Xunta de Galicia, the regional government, also contributed to the investment. CEI is managed by Pedralonga Estudios, a collaboration between CLAG, the University of A Coruña, and 10 leading Galician media companies, launched in 2024.

Industry representatives, including José Manuel Deus, Rosa Ana García, Miguel Ovejero, and Alfonso Blanco, shared their insights at the launch event. They highlighted Galicia's strengths as a filming location, with over 30 years of experience, renowned production companies, top-tier crew and talent, diverse landscapes, and attractive subsidies.

Coruña Immersive Studio's opening marks a significant step for Spain's media industry. With its advanced technology and Galicia's filming advantages, CEI is poised to attract major productions, boosting the region's economy and international profile.
