SWEG Enhances Bus Services with Real-Time Tech

SWEG, a leading bus operator in Baden-Württemberg, has introduced new technology across its fleet. This move aims to enhance passenger information and driver assistance, with real-time data now feeding into digital timetable services and on-board computers.

The new on-board computers in SWEG buses serve as the core of the communication system, acting as personal assistants for driving staff. They enable real-time data retrieval using GPS transmitters, providing passengers with accurate arrival and departure times on SWEG bus lines in Müllheim and Kaiserstuhl. The SWEG bus control center now has real-time visibility of vehicles due to the new hardware integrated into its operational control system.

SWEG board member Dr. Thilo Grabo has stated that the new technology improves the information service for passengers, making public transport more appealing. In the future, real-time data could be displayed at bus stops if display systems are installed there. Bus drivers now have an easier operation and can issue a wider range of tickets with the new on-board computers.

SWEG's implementation of new technology in its buses has significantly improved passenger information and driver assistance. Real-time data is now available, enhancing the overall experience of using public transport. The company continues to explore further innovations, such as displaying real-time data at bus stops.
