In an exciting development, Deutsche Telekom AG has announced plans to expand its fiber optic network in Dieburg South-East. The project is set to commence in October 2025, with a projected completion date by the end of the year.

Over 3,300 households in the area will be connected to the fiber optic network, with around 32 kilometers of fiber optic cable being laid directly to homes and 27 new network distributors being installed.

Interested parties can secure a free fiber optic home connection from August 5, 2025, by booking a tariff at www.telekom.de/glasfaser. For renting households, a tariff booking is necessary to secure a connection. Single or two-family house owners can get the house connection for free when they book a tariff.

The fiber optic connection offers numerous advantages. It supports multiple people using the internet simultaneously for learning, work, streaming, and gaming, and is less prone to interference and more robust against external influences like water. Moreover, it provides the most stable connection for these activities, all at the same time.

The new fiber optic network enables speeds of up to 1,000 megabits per second, making it ideal for businesses adapting to the growing digital requirements. It also increases the value of a property, and is better for the climate as it consumes less energy than the copper network.

To help residents understand the benefits of fiber optic, an information event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 7:00 PM in the Römerhalle, In der Altstadt 5 in Dieburg. Registration can be done at www.telekom.de/glasfaser.

It's worth noting that the construction will be carried out in individual sections to minimize inconvenience for residents. Telekom will handle the coordination with the property owner, as their consent is required for the connection. Every household, on average, has more than ten internet-enabled devices, including smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, gaming consoles, e-book readers, vacuum robots, inverters from solar systems, and alarm systems.

The fiber optic network expansion in Dieburg South-East is part of Deutsche Telekom's ongoing efforts to improve digital infrastructure across Germany.
