Telegram Founder Pavel Durov Inspires Students at IQanat High School
Telegram founder Pavel Durov visited IQanat High School in Kazakhstan on October 1, 2025. The visit was a significant event for the 500 students, many of whom had never met someone with Durov's global influence. The visit included an informal conversation with students, mostly from rural areas, and a separate meeting with his protégés, whom he had fully financed the previous year.
Durov shared stories about his journey into programming and discussed the prospects of developing artificial intelligence with the students. He familiarized himself with the school's infrastructure and had an informal conversation with students, many of whom were from remote villages. In 2024, Durov became part of the IQanat patronage community and allocated over $350,000 for the education of 12 rural students from Kazakhstan. During his visit, Durov had a separate meeting with his wards, who shared their achievements in olympiads, competitions, and hackathons, as well as their own projects in ecology and IT.
Durov's visit to IQanat High School was more than just a meet-and-greet. It was an opportunity for him to connect with the students he has been supporting financially, to share his knowledge and experiences, and to witness the progress of their education firsthand. The visit has likely inspired the students to work even harder towards their goals in the field of technology.
