Tesla intends to develop a Supercharger station inspired by the Cybertruck in New Mexico.
Tesla's Futuristic Supercharger Station in Roswell, New Mexico
Tesla is set to build a unique Supercharger station in Roswell, New Mexico, with a distinctive Cybertruck-inspired design that is sure to turn heads. The station, dubbed the CyberCanopy, will be located near the Whataburger on North Main Street and is expected to open around December 2026.
The CyberCanopy will boast a UFO-shaped canopy, reminiscent of the Cybertruck design, complete with a 20.88 kW solar array to generate clean energy for the charging stalls. The station will have eight charging stalls, making it both functional and visually striking.
The design also includes RGB lighting elements, adding a futuristic aesthetic and creating an eye-catching appearance, especially at night. This thematic lighting aligns with Roswell's cultural identity, known for its alien/UFO mythology.
Max de Zegher, a Tesla executive, confirmed the plans for the Supercharger station and shared an official image of the site. He expressed a wish that they could have kept the plans under wraps for longer. The canopy design was first discovered by the Twitter user @MarcoRP1.
This Supercharger station is part of Tesla's newer specialized charging projects aimed to provide experiences that are "cool enough to be worthy of the trip itself." It differs from other ongoing projects like the large 168-stall Supercharger in Lost Hills, California, or the Tesla Diner with Optimus robots located elsewhere.
As of now, no permits have been filed for the site, and further details about the Supercharger station are expected once Tesla submits official plans. The station may include newer V4 Supercharger stalls, but this has not been confirmed.
In summary, the Roswell Tesla Supercharger will feature:
- A Cybertruck-style UFO-shaped canopy ("CyberCanopy")
- Solar panels generating over 20 kW of power
- Approximately eight charging stalls
- RGB lighting for thematic effect
- Expected completion and opening by December 2026
These design elements position the Roswell station as a unique, futuristic landmark that ties into the local alien/UFO mythology while serving Tesla customers sustainably and stylishly.
