Tesla Introduces New Features for Selected Models, but Cybertruck Misses Out
Tesla has rolled out a series of new features for its electric vehicles, including enhanced B-pillar cameras and an upgraded Dashcam Viewer. However, the Cybertruck, despite being equipped with the latest hardware, has been left out of this update.
The new features are available only for Tesla vehicles equipped with Hardware 4 (HW4) and the newer AMD Ryzen infotainment processor. This is because these features require the advanced computing power and architecture that HW4 provides. Tesla has confirmed there is no retrofit path for older hardware versions like HW3 due to major differences in wiring, cooling, and form factor that make upgrading technically complex and costly.
The new features include an upgraded Dashcam Viewer that allows viewing from all six camera feeds, instead of the previous four-camera view. Additionally, the B-pillar cameras, mounted between the front and rear doors on either side of the vehicle, provide an improved field of view and help remove a critical blind spot.

Tesla may optimize the feature to work on HW3 vehicles in the future, including those with AMD Ryzen, which can be less than two years old. However, the Cybertruck, despite being equipped with both HW4 and Ryzen, is missing the feature. Tesla has not provided an explanation for this.
To identify the Autopilot computer in your Tesla vehicle, go to the software tab inside your vehicle, then tap on 'Additional Vehicle Information'. If your vehicle is equipped with HW4, it will be listed there.
The update may have been released quickly due to the recent rise in vandalism on vehicles. Tesla has been focusing on enhancing the security and safety features of its vehicles, and the new B-pillar cameras and Dashcam Viewer are part of this effort.
