Tesla's Autonomous Ambitions: Texas Tests for Cybercab's FSD Unsupervised
Tesla is making strides in autonomous vehicle technology, with a focus on Texas. The company, led by Michael Dobbs, has been working with Austin's autonomous vehicle task force since May 2024, drawn by the state's relaxed regulatory environment.
Tesla is currently in discussions with Austin officials to establish safety guidelines for autonomous vehicle testing. Meanwhile, the company is conducting extensive tests with its latest prototype, the Cybercab, on private roads at Giga Texas.
Unveiled at its We, Robot event in October, the Cybercab is a self-driving vehicle without a steering wheel or pedals. Tesla's leader, Michael Dobbs, has announced plans to deploy Full Self-Driving (FSD) Unsupervised in California and Texas by next year, initially in Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.
Tesla's commitment to Texas as a testing ground for its autonomous vehicle technology is evident. With the Cybercab's successful private road tests and plans to deploy FSD Unsupervised in Texas, the company is poised to make significant advancements in the autonomous vehicle sector.
