The 2026 Maserati MCPura Enhances the Outstanding Qualities of the MC20 for Track Performance

The Italian luxury automaker, Maserati, has announced the launch of its latest supercar masterpiece, the MCPura and its convertible counterpart, the MCPura Cielo. These vehicles are the evolution of the MC20, boasting significant upgrades and improvements that set them apart in the supercar market.

Power and Performance

The heart of the MCPura and MCPura Cielo is a 3.0L Twin-Turbo V6 Nettuno engine, delivering an impressive 621 hp and 538 lb-ft torque. This powerhouse enables a 0-60 mph time under 2.9 seconds and top speeds of 202 mph (coupe) and 199 mph (Cielo).

Exterior Design

The exterior design of the MCPura draws inspiration from the GT2 Stradale's track-focused aesthetic, with a refreshed front bumper, reshaped side intakes for improved aerodynamics and cooling, and an enhanced "shark nose" design with a more accentuated appearance. Optional aero kits with a large rear wing inspired by the GT2 Stradale are also available.

For the Cielo model, a retractable electric roof featuring polymer dispersed liquid crystal glass is a standout feature. This innovative roof can change from opaque to transparent in one second and opens/closes in 12 seconds, operable at speeds up to 50 km/h.

Weight Reduction and Interior Improvements

The MCPura coupe drops weight to about 3,043 lbs for better driving efficiency compared to the MC20. The interior features a new GT2-inspired flat-top steering wheel, performance pages for torque, oil pressure, and other data, and dual 10.25-inch screens for the infotainment system.

Pricing and Availability

Production of the MCPura begins in Q3 2025 at Maserati’s Modena facility. Pricing is expected to be above the MC20’s $243,000 starting price, with very limited production planned—120 units for the US and 10 for Canada.

While there has been some conflicting information regarding the MCPura's specifications, the majority of detailed and official sources emphasize the higher power output (621 hp), faster acceleration (under 2.9s), and pricing above $243,000, aligning with Maserati’s supercar positioning and evolution from the MC20.

In summary, the 2026 MCPura represents a lighter, more powerful, and aerodynamically refined successor to the MC20, maintaining the pure internal combustion formula with modern design and tech improvements, plus the exclusive Cielo variant featuring an innovative transparent/retractable roof.
