Among the esteemed guests at the event are Dorothee Bär, the federal research minister responsible for the industry, and Hendrik Wüst, the NRW minister president.
As the trade fair proper commences on Wednesday morning and continues until Sunday, over 1,500 exhibitors, a new record, have descended upon Cologne. These exhibitors are showcasing numerous trailers for upcoming video and computer games, aiming to excite fans and increase their purchasing readiness for the games' upcoming releases.

Another game that caught the attention of the audience is "Resident Evil" with its remake, "Requiem". This game centers around survival against the undead.
Streaming services such as Netflix, Disney+, and Paramount+ are increasingly represented at Gamescom. Amazon Prime was part of the opening show, presenting the second season of the post-apocalyptic action series "Fallout". Ella Purnell, reprising her role as Lucy MacLean, and Walton Goggins, who plays the Ghoul, were highlighted during the presentation.
"Death by Scrolling", designed in a retro style reminiscent of gaming 30 years ago, also made an appearance. Ron Gilbert, known for his gaming success with "Monkey Island" in the 90s, presented this game.
