Today's "Wordle" Solution Suggestions, Signposts, and Solution for December 8th, Sunday
Sun's day has taken over, replacing Saturn's. This day brings various activities for different people; some attend church, others indulge in early afternoon drinks, while others complete chores or watch football and movies. I usually gather with my D&D group for food, games, and dice rolling. The only downside to Sundays is they lead to Mondays. Long live the three-day weekend, say I!
Now, let's dive into Wordle!

Wordle Examination
I frequently use Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can examine your Wordles using Wordle Bot directly here.
CRATE served as a decent starting point but was underperforming today, leaving me with 106 remaining possibilities. It's uncommon to see a word ending in 'A' and containing an 'E' in the middle, making this day's selections a bit of an outlier by doing so. APNEA sprang to mind next as I looked for a second guess. I was attracted to it because it tested the position of 'A' in both places. My third guess options were ENEMA and HYENA. I opted for the less unpleasant.
Competitive Wordle Rating
I scored 1 point for guessing within three attempts and 0 points for tying the bot. Again.
How to Play Competitive Wordle
- A first-guess score is 3 points, a second-guess is 2 points, a third-guess is 1 point, a fourth-guess comes with 0 points, a fifth-guess earns -1 points, and a sixth-guess or missing the Wordle results in -2 points.
- If you beat your opponent, you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. If you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Sum the points to determine your score. Maintain a daily score or play anew each day.
- Fridays double your points, positive or negative.
- Choose between maintaining a running score or playing daily. Have fun!
Today's Wordle Etymology
The word "hyena" originates from the Latin hyaena, which stems from the Greek hyaina (ὕαινα). The Greek term harks back to the Greek "hys" (ὗς), meaning "swine," due to the hyena's bristly mane, regarded as resembling a pig's back. The "-aina" suffix imparts a feminine connotation. It then passed through Latin into Old French as "hyene," and then into Middle English, eventually evolving into the modern English rendition, "hyena."
