Trendsetting Tortona Transforms into a "Smart City" Initially with the Modernization of 824 Street Lights
In the heart of Italy's Piedmont region, the historic city of Tortona is embarking on an exciting new project aimed at modernising its public lighting network. The project, which involves the removal of existing, obsolete lighting devices and their replacement with energy-efficient LED lamps, is part of Tortona's larger vision to become a "smart" city.
The primary objectives of this project extend beyond mere aesthetic improvements. The city aims to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions while simultaneously enhancing ground illumination. To achieve this, the project includes the installation of a total of 824 lighting points, regulated by 24 electrical panels, across various neighbourhoods.
The neighbourhood of Paghisano Alto will see interventions on streets such as Curiel, Boccalatte, Rosselli, Moro, Callatrone, Vaccari, Casareggio, Sovera Latuada, Rapetti, Melchiorri, Dossola, Bovone. Similarly, in the L'Oasi area, streets like Morandi, Matteotti, De Gasperi, Silla, Aliotta, Giolitti will be affected. In the Coianrt I area, via Cavalieri di Vittorio Veneto and via Gabotto will undergo changes.
The project also incorporates innovative remote management systems for public lighting networks, ensuring efficient control and maintenance. To further enhance safety and weather preparedness, a weather monitoring system will be installed at the corso Alessandria underpass.
Tortona's commitment to this project is reflected in the significant investment of 600,000 euros. Of this, 480,000 euros comes from regional funding, with the remaining 120,000 euros sourced from the city's administration surplus.
This project is a testament to Tortona's dedication to integrating various technological solutions to make its services more efficient and livable. As the city continues to evolve, its residents can look forward to a future of improved energy efficiency, reduced environmental impact, and enhanced safety.
However, further information regarding the authority or institution that initiated and financed this intelligent public street lighting project in Tortona remains unavailable at this time.
The interventions will also affect additional streets, including Marsala, Cabruna, Zuccaro, Pattarelli, Emilia (carabinieri area), Arzani, Repubblica, da Vinci, Giani, Galluzzi, Fiume, Esuli Istriani, Rampini di Sant'Alosio, Malaspina, del Fiore, Bidone, Lega, Perosi, Bandello, Isidoro da Tortona, Montebello, Guidobono, Paglieri, Pontida, Ribrocchi, Sottoripa, Baluardo, Montemerlo, Leoniero, Pocasale, Malaspina, Trinità, Arzano, San Simone, Mazzini, Lugano, San Michele, Julia Derthona, Cavallotti, Duomo, corso Repubblica stretch along the railway line, Saccaggi, Fiamberti, Kennedy, largo Europa, corso Romita, piazza Roma, via Caduti della Libertà, largo Borgarelli.
