UAE enforces in-person digital service support at government facilities
In a significant move towards inclusivity, the Presidential Court and partners of 01Lab Health in Abu Dhabi have launched an initiative to make digital applications easier and more accessible for older users in the United Arab Emirates.
The directive places special emphasis on serving senior citizens and other groups with specific needs, acknowledging the challenges they face in the digital age. Many elderly users have voiced concerns over complex interfaces, limited digital literacy, lack of trust in new technologies, and fears of privacy breaches. Among the most pressing challenges faced by older citizens are cluttered application designs, unfamiliarity with digital tools, and fears of online fraud or cybercrime.
Recognising these issues, the initiative aims to provide a seamless and integrated customer experience by combining personal support with advanced technology. The government is stressing that no citizen should be turned away due to digital services availability.
To address the concerns of senior citizens, the initiative will ensure that services are expected to be available, flexible, and user-friendly. Centres are expected to offer both in-person and online pathways, catering to the preferences and comfort levels of each user. Clear procedures are being set for those wishing to meet officials and share feedback.
The move comes in response to appeals from senior citizens who have called for simplifying smart applications. The government is emphasizing the importance of ensuring that technological progress remains inclusive and does not leave vulnerable groups behind.
This initiative is a step forward in making digital services more accessible and user-friendly for all, particularly for those who may be apprehensive about technology. By prioritising the needs of senior citizens and other groups with specific needs, the UAE continues to demonstrate its commitment to an inclusive digital future.
