UAE, Germany Boost Economic Ties; 200+ German Firms in Dubai Zones
The United Arab Emirates and Germany have bolstered their economic ties, with non-oil trade surging to AED 50.68 billion (USD 13.8 billion) in 2024, a 5.4% increase from the previous year. This growth has led to a strategic partnership between Dubai's Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) and the German-Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce (AHK), aiming to make Dubai's economic zones a top choice for German investment and innovation.
Over 200 German companies, including prominent names like Airbus, Porsche, DHL, and Henkel, already operate in DIEZ's zones. The new partnership, signed by DIEZ and AHK, will further strengthen this presence. Dr. Martin Henkelmann, CEO of AHK, sees this collaboration as a platform for knowledge exchange and expansion into advanced sectors, fostering stronger bilateral economic and technological ties.
Priority areas for joint efforts include Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing, sustainability, and digital commerce. The partnership will create an innovation hub at Dubai Silicon Oasis and a 'DAFZ-Germany Fast Lane' at Dubai Airport Freezone to support logistics and trade. German companies will benefit from fast-track processes, a dedicated 'German Desk', and tailored incentives to ease entry into the UAE market.
With non-oil trade between the UAE and Germany reaching AED 50.68 billion in 2024, the strategic partnership between DIEZ and AHK is set to further boost bilateral economic relations. The partnership aims to make Dubai's economic zones a preferred hub for German investment and innovation, with a focus on key sectors and supportive infrastructure.
