Uhtan's swift-moving individuals encounter hindrances in their movement.

In a recent working meeting on July 3rd, Uhta's administration and representatives of kick-scooter sharing services discussed plans to create safer conditions for pedestrians and users of these services. The goal is to make scooters a comfortable element of the urban environment while ensuring safety for all road users.

The meeting, which was previously reported by the information program "Day", was prompted by a rise in road traffic accidents involving individual mobility devices (IMDs). In 2024, there were five such accidents in the municipal district, injuring six people. This year, there have been two accidents involving electric scooters, injuring two children.

To address these concerns, several measures have been proposed. The speed limit for IMDs in the city will be reduced to 15 km/h, and in certain areas, to 5 km/h for safety reasons. Nighttime use of scooters will also be restricted.

IMDs are already equipped with speed limiters, geolocation trackers, and user identification systems. However, additional regulations will be implemented to ensure compliance. Mandatory helmet use or safety gear, defined parking zones to prevent sidewalk clutter, usage age limits and licensing requirements, requirements for operator insurance and user liability, and rider education campaigns are likely to be part of the new regulations.

It is also worth noting that it is prohibited for children to operate IMDs according to the Uhta Traffic Police. The specific regulations and safety measures agreed upon at the meeting are yet to be officially announced, but they are in accordance with R. Goldstein's directive to develop a specific plan for electric scooter operation.

For those interested in the detailed, current regulations and safety measures following the July 3rd meeting in Uhta, it is recommended to check official Uhta city government communications, local transport authority announcements, or news reports specifically covering that event.
