Ukraine Destroys Rare Russian Electronic Warfare Vehicle in Luhansk
Ukrainian forces have scored a significant victory in Luhansk, successfully neutralizing a rare and expensive Russian electronic warfare vehicle, the R-330Zh 'Zhitel'. The operation, carried out by the 412th Regiment 'Nemesis' with support from the State Border Guard Service, has dealt a substantial blow to Russian capabilities in the region.
The R-330Zh 'Zhitel' is a mobile electronic warfare complex mounted on a KAMAZ truck chassis, designed to detect, intercept, and suppress satellite, cellular, and radio signals within a 30-kilometer radius. Its destruction is a major success for Ukrainian forces, as only 23 such systems have been visually confirmed destroyed since Russia's full-scale invasion.
The operation was executed using a reconnaissance drone and a drone-bomber, with the aerial reconnaissance unit of the State Border Guard Service playing a crucial role in localizing the system. The approximate value of the destroyed system is $10 million.
The destruction of the R-330Zh 'Zhitel' system not only restores friendly freedom of maneuver for drones, GPS-dependent weapons, and navigation but also complicates Russian attempts to blind reconnaissance and drone strike networks. This victory comes amidst revelations of devastating Russian military losses in 2025, with internal figures surfacing personnel and equipment losses.
