Ukraine, US in Talks for Major Drone Deal, Including Co-Production
Ukrainian officials recently visited the US for high-level talks on potential drone deals. The discussions, a preparatory stage for a broader 'Drone Deal' announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, focused on planned weapons deliveries and co-production options.
The Ukrainian delegation, comprising representatives from the Ministry of Defense and the National Security and Defense Council, showcased specific drone models, performance data, and operational use cases. The talks centered around purchasing Ukrainian unmanned aerial systems and integrating them into US forces, with an emphasis on planned shipments for 2026 and potential volume increases.
The US noted Ukraine's expertise in building drones, including aerial, maritime, and ground robotic systems. The discussions also explored joint production options, with the US agreeing to purchase Ukrainian drones. Meanwhile, American startup Allen Control Systems signed a contract with the US Special Operations Command to supply its Bullfrog autonomous anti-drone turrets.
The negotiations for the planned contract on the procurement and co-production of Ukrainian drones with the US armed forces were prepared by the Ukrainian delegation. The contract is expected to be signed soon, although the exact date remains unspecified. Ukrainian officials met with representatives from all branches of the US armed forces to review requirements and assess capability gaps, paving the way for a strengthened partnership in drone technology.
