In a significant move, Choi Soo-yeon, the CEO of Naver, South Korea's biggest internet company, has launched NAVER Ventures in the United States. This expansion marks a new chapter in the global growth of the tech giant.

Choi Soo-yeon's journey with Naver began in 2019 when she joined the company to lead global business initiatives. Her impressive career trajectory culminated in her appointment as CEO in 2022, making her the second female CEO and the youngest non-founder CEO of Naver.

With a background in corporate/M&A law and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, Choi Soo-yeon is driving NAVER's AI-first global expansion. She is particularly focused on rolling out "on-service AI" across core Naver products.

In addition to her role at Naver, Choi Soo-yeon has made a significant impact on the global stage by joining the UN Global Compact Board. The UN Global Compact, a call to companies worldwide to align their operations and strategies with Ten Principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption, challenges businesses to take concrete actions to accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As a member of the UN Global Compact Board, Choi Soo-yeon will play a vital role in shaping the strategy and policy of the initiative. The Board, designed as a multi-stakeholder body, acts as the UN flagship for responsible business action.

Notably, on September 18, 2025, the company Uralchem from the Russian Federation also joined the UN Global Compact Advisory Board. For more information about the UN Global Compact Board members, including Choi Soo-yeon and Uralchem, visit the website www.unglobalcompact.org/about/governance/board/members.

It is important to note that board members of the UN Global Compact act in a personal, honorary, and unpaid capacity. The Board provides ongoing strategic and policy advice for the initiative, under the leadership of UN Secretary-General António Guterres who serves as Board Chair.

Naver has been an active participant of the UN Global Compact since 2014. As a member of this prestigious board, Choi Soo-yeon continues to demonstrate her commitment to responsible business practices and the advancement of the SDGs.
