The Chinese automaker BYD has announced the launch of two new all-electric models, the Tang L SUV and Han L sedan, marking a significant step in the company's expansion of its electric vehicle (EV) lineup.
### BYD Tang L SUV (2025)
Officially unveiled on January 16, 2025, and set to launch on April 9, 2025, the Tang L SUV is BYD's largest and most luxurious SUV, positioned above the existing Tang models. The exterior design follows BYD’s "Loong Face" aesthetic, inspired by Chinese heritage, with dragon whisker-like air intakes, split headlights connected by chrome trim, and bamboo weaving-inspired taillights. The interior mirrors the Han L's dual-color theme, featuring premium materials like bamboo wood accents and ambient lighting, enhancing the luxury feel.
The Tang L SUV is equipped with a 1.5L turbocharged engine combined with dual electric motors, producing a total of up to 640 hp. Acceleration from 0-60 mph takes under 4.3 seconds, making it one of the fastest SUVs in its segment. The vehicle also features a 100.5 kWh LFP blade battery offering up to 670 km CLTC range in the rear-wheel-drive variant.
Other notable features include a massive 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen infotainment system, an augmented reality heads-up display, a full digital instrument panel, and a flat-bottom four-spoke leather steering wheel with haptic controls. The Tang L offers a 7-seat layout with second-row captain’s chairs featuring recline and heating, a spacious third-row suitable for adults, and a panoramic sunroof.
Advanced safety features include the God’s Eye C (DiPilot 300) intelligent driving assistance system with roof-mounted Lidar on higher trims. The Tang L also boasts a boot space of 675 liters expandable to 1,960 liters with rear seats folded, and the EV variant has additional front trunk (frunk) space.
### BYD Han L Sedan (2025)
The Han L sedan is powered by a dual motor setup with a 76.9 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, producing 517 hp and 700 Nm torque. The vehicle offers a spacious and luxurious interior with a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen center console, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a refined cabin with premium faux leather and imitation wood, ambient lighting, and a piano lacquer-finished dashboard.
The Han L sedan offers a cargo volume of around 410 to 470 liters, and it is expected to be available in markets like the Philippines starting from 2024/2025, with ongoing updates in 2025.
