Google's Pixel 10 Pro Fold: Incremental Upgrades and Efficiency
Google has teased the upcoming Pixel 10 Pro Fold with a video on YouTube, offering a glimpse of the upcoming foldable device. The video, while not revealing specifications, hints at several upgrades over the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is expected to feature incremental upgrades, focusing on refinement and efficiency rather than a major redesign or overhaul. One of the most notable changes is the new Tensor G5 chip, promising better energy efficiency, multitasking, and gaming performance.
The cover display of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold might have a slight increase in size, growing from 6.3 inches to about 6.4 inches, achieved by reducing bezels and hinge size rather than increasing the overall footprint. The main display is also likely to receive a brightness boost, though specifics are not yet known.
The device will come with Android 16 out of the box, continuing the latest software support. Camera hardware is expected to remain similar to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, but with improved image processing software. Another potential AI feature for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is 'Conversational Photo Editing', allowing for voice or text-based image adjustments.
The battery capacity is expected to exceed 5,000mAh, aiming to provide improved all-day usage. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold will also support Qi 2 wireless charging. In terms of water and dust resistance, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold might have an IP68 rating, providing better protection compared to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold's IPX8 rating.
Design-wise, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will closely resemble its predecessor, with flat sides, rounded corners, and a pill-shaped camera island, maintaining its taller, narrower foldable format. Color options rumored include "Moonstone" (light green) and "Jade" (slate blue).
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is expected to be more powerful than its predecessor, but not as powerful as the Snapdragon 8 Elite used by the Samsung Galaxy S25 line. The official reveal is set for August 20, 2025, at the Made by Google event, where full specs will be confirmed.
The teaser video includes a joke about the joy of opening a new phone twice when buying a foldable - once from the box, and the second time when opening the phone itself. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, on the other hand, has a smaller 4,400mAh battery compared to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
