Volvo's Electric Future: C40 Recharge Starts Production, EC40 Coming in 2025
Volvo is preparing for an electric future. The Swedish automaker has revealed plans to commence series production of the electric EC40 in September 2025, featuring the 'lifestyle' transmission from the EX40. Meanwhile, production of the C40 Recharge begins this autumn, with UK deliveries slated for January 2024.
The C40 Recharge, an electric coupe SUV based on the XC40 Recharge, will share the same electric powertrain. This includes a robust 402bhp engine and a 78kWh battery, providing a range of up to 260 miles on a single charge.
Volvo has committed to an all-electric future, aiming to sell only electric vehicles by 2030. The C40 Recharge will be a significant stride towards this goal, offering a stylish and sustainable option for customers. It will be sold online exclusively, with a hassle-free care package and swift delivery for added convenience.
Prices for the C40 Recharge will start from around £57,400, positioning it above the XC40 Recharge. With production starting soon and deliveries beginning in early 2024, Volvo is poised to expand its electric lineup and contribute to a more sustainable future.
