VW Polo Unveiling: Notable Insights into the Latest Volkswagen Polo Model
Volkswagen is set to expand its compact car lineup with the introduction of the new ID. Polo, scheduled to be premiered in May 2026. This marks another significant chapter in the over 50-year history of the Polo series.
The current Polo, which is 1.75 metres wide and 4 centimetres taller than the VW Golf 3, will be replaced by the electric ID. Polo. The ID. Polo, part of the electric vehicles category, has been developed with a leading role by Cupra, based on the MEB+ platform, a modular electric drive matrix from the Volkswagen Group.
Interestingly, special variants of the Polo are developed in South Africa, such as the Polo Vivo, which are not available in Europe. In Brazil, the Polo was sold in the 1980s under the name VW Fox, adapted specifically for the South American market.
Notably, the sixth generation of the Polo is 4.05 metres long, slightly longer than the VW Golf 3 (4.02 metres). In the mid-1980s, the Polo was one of the first vehicles in its class to receive a diesel catalyst.
The ID. Polo, being an electric vehicle, is expected to contribute to Volkswagen's ongoing commitment to sustainable mobility solutions. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new addition to the Volkswagen family.
