Yamaha Launches High-End True X Surround 90A Soundbar Home Theater System

Yamaha has recently introduced a new soundbar home theater system, the True X Surround 90A (SR-X90A). This high-end product boasts a 19-speaker array, including a three-piece setup: soundbar, wireless subwoofer, and rear surrounds.

The system incorporates Yamaha's proprietary True X Surround engine, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X compatibility, and Yamaha's MusicCast network. It is worth noting that this system was launched in 2025, making it a very recent release.

However, as of September 2022, the Yamaha True X Surround 90A was not available in the U.S. market, and no pricing information was disclosed. The system will launch in the U.S. in September 2023.

The cost for just the soundbar of the Yamaha True X Surround 90A system is $2,800, without additional surround speakers. The cost for the entire system, which includes 2 additional surround speakers and a standalone Bluetooth woofer, is $3,500. It is essential to note that the price does not include the cost of the Bluetooth woofer.

The SR-X90A includes 12 Dolby Atmos speakers, making it a formidable competitor in the market. Compared to other soundbars, such as a Samsung model with only 4 total beamformed speakers, the SR-X90A promises a richer sound or louder volume.

The large number of speakers in the SR-X90A suggests that the soundbar could produce a rich and potentially very loud sound. Beamforming speakers, like those in the SR-X90A, aim to make the sound more immersive by bouncing audio off the ceiling.

The Yamaha True X Surround 90A system is outfitted with Surround:AI processing, which uses AI to optimize surround sound in real-time. This technology, along with the inclusion of beamforming speakers, may contribute to the high price of the system.

Despite not having used the Yamaha SR-X90A soundbar personally, the author has had positive experiences with devices featuring a lot of JBL-made Dolby Atmos speakers, which suggests that more speakers can lead to a richer sound or louder volume.

In conclusion, the Yamaha True X Surround 90A is a high-end soundbar home theater system with advanced features and a significant number of speakers. While it will come at a cost, its potential to deliver an immersive and rich audio experience makes it an appealing option for those seeking a premium home theater setup.
